Telecom giant Verizon has launched a partnership with Indian system integrators to provide support services to multi-national corporations in the US, western Europe, Asia Pacific and Japan.

"We have begun partnering with some of Indian system integrators to jointly offer services to customers," said Joseph Crawford, Executive Director, Cloud Solutions Engineering and Business Development at the US-based Verizon.

"The Indian SIs are providing Business Processing Organisations (BPOs) services and Verizon supports that with its secured cloud infrastructure. We both are playing to our strengths," he said.

Verizon, which has 177,000 employees globally, is also banking on its cloud technology in a big way, especially for its Indian market.

"Indian BPO market is the largest BPO market for Verizon. We are working to build a platform to cater to those capabilities. We wish to capture the huge BPO commerce by deploying collaboration platforms and centers in India," Crawford said over the weekend in Singapore.

"Verizon is extremely bullish about the cloud business and the Indian market," he said.

Verizon looks at the Indian market under three different customer segments or pillars - domestic companies, India-led multinationals like TCS, Wipro and Sun Pharma and global companies, which have ventured into India.

"If we look at all the three segments, we see a huge amount of growth in each of these pillars, specific to cloud adoption," he said.

With 6,000-strong employees, the Chennai-headquartered Verizon Data Services India (VDS India), is a complement of Verizon, the network company and a global leader in delivering innovation in communications, information and entertainment.

Elaborating, Crawford said VDS India operations out of Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, is the group's single largest centre out of the US and plays a leading role in the development of its services and products.
