JD(S) has emerged as the second biggest winner in the Karnataka elections, ahead of ruling BJP, with 43 seats (leading).

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah, the potential CM candidate of Congress, has won at Varuna constituency in Mysore district with a margin of 20,000 votes.

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s strong supporters – Shobha Karandlaje and C M Udasi– all former ministers have lost in Rajajinagar, Hanagal constituencies respectively. His other loyalist Renukacharya has also lost.

H D Kumaraswamy, president, JD(S) said, "We will sit in the opposition and protect the interests of the people of Karnataka. We fought against the BJP's corruption and now we will fight against the Congress. We are not interested in being the kingmaker and we have no deal with the BJP. The media influenced voters by predicting JD(S)' loss."
