India's Sahil Pathania (-100kg) and Parikshit Kumar (+100kg) advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's judo event but compatriot Avtar Singh lost in the men's -90kg round of 16 of the 2014 Commonwealth Games here Saturday.
Pathania beat Raymond Normeshie of Ghana by 'Ippon' in just 46 seconds to book his berth in the quarters while Parikshit came out victorious Kumar against Malaysia's Muhammad Ruzaini Abdul Razak in the +100kg weight category also by 'Ippon' in a contest lasting a minute and 57 seconds.
Avtar Singh fought valiantly but Matthew Purssey of Scotland proved too strong and the 22-year-old lost through 'Ippon' in a bout lasting two minutes and 43 seconds.
Pathania will take on Jason Koster of New Zealand while Parikshit Kumar faces Koster's countryman Sam Rosser.
