The economic offences wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police on Friday said it suspected the National Spot Exchange’s (NSEL) software was misused and, therefore, would investigate reports of communication on the NSEL server being routed through Financial Technologies’ server.

EOW, which is currently conducting a thorough probe into the NSEL scam, indicated that NSEL’s former CEO Anjani Sinha has been useful in corroborating documentary evidence.

Additional Commissioner of Police (EOW) Rajvardhan told reporters EOW will summon the NSEL directors again next week for questioning.

On NK Protein's joint venture with the Adani group, he said the EOW was showing losses. During interrogation, NK Protein argued that Adani group has parked losses of other ventures in the joint venture. However, Rajvardhan added EOW will have to investigate if Adani group parked losses in the joint venture.

The EOW will also investigate whether the losses were genuine, bonafide losses or losses incurred by sister companies. Moreover, NK Protein had supplied machinery and raw materials worth Rs 300 crore to the joint venture.

Rajvardhan informed that NK Protein had entered into the joint venture with Adani group for export of edible oil.

EOW has identified assets of borrowers for attachment and will start attaching assets shortly according to the provisions of The Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Act, 1999.

According to Rajvardhan, directors of Mohan India, ARK, Loyal also appeared before the EOW for questioning.
