Business Standard brings to you a list of five key developments  from across the country.

Building collapses in Hyderabad

At least 10 people were missing when a multi-storied, under-construction building collapsed on Thursday night. The incident occurred in Nanakramguda, an information technology suburb under the limits of Cyberabad police commissionerate limits. Police said a seven-storied building collapsed. Construction workers and their families who were asleep were trapped under the rubble.

Cheaper fuel, train tickets on digital transaction, says Arun Jaitley

Buy petrol or diesel with your debit or credit card or e-wallet from a petrol pump which has a licence from a public sector unit (PSU), and you will soon get a discount of Rs 7.5 for every transaction of Rs 1,000. You will also not need to pay the two per cent service tax and merchant discount rate for purchases up to Rs 2,000.

Demonetisation hits auto sales

Hit by the demonetisation hurdle, the fast-growing automobile sector in the country has posted a decline — the first this year — of about 5% in November. Commercial vehicles, two- and three-wheelers all posted a decline. This was the steepest in the past 44 months. The sector had declined 7.75 per cent in March 2013. The last time the sector posted a decline was December 2015, when volumes fell by only 0.17 per cent.

10% import duty scrapped on wheat

The Centre on Thursday waived the import duty on wheat within months of lowering it to 10 per cent as retail prices show little signs of abating. The duty has been waived for an indefinite period, according to an official notification placed in Parliament on Thursday.

Allahabad HC: Triple talaq is cruel

Observing that the judicial conscience is disturbed, the Allahabad High Court has held that triple talaq is "cruel" and raised a question whether the Muslim Personal law could be changed to ease the suffering of Muhammadan women. Coming down heavily on the practice, the court has held that this form of "instant divorce" is "most demeaning" which "impedes and drags India from becoming a nation".
