The current Census will be held across 3,737 count posts situated on State Highways and Major District Roads, the Department said.
The objective of the Census is to assess the traffic volume on different category of roads in the state, which will enable the government to take decisions for improvements to existing roads, upgradation of roads to the higher categories, surface improvements and widening of roads, among others. The traffic Census data will be collected by the nominated traffic enumerators such as assistant engineers/junior engineers.
In view of the Census being held for a week continuously on all roads, the department has sought the cooperation from all the vehicle operators and public in general for these days.
