The summit, which was earlier scheduled for last February, is finally going to take place on August 1 and invitations from state chief secretary Sanjay Mitra are being been sent to top business leaders like Ambani brothers, Tata group chairman Cyrus Mistry, ITC chirman Yogi Deveswar, Infosys' Kris Gopalkrishnan.
In the wake of Supreme Court's suggestion to Tata Motors to consider returning the disputed Singur land, the highlight of the meet can be Cyrus Mistry's presence, if he is present. The next hearing for the case is scheduled on August 13.
Sources in the Bombay House suggested Mistry is yet to receive any invitation. But state government officials seem to be hopeful about big names.
"This was scheduled to happen on February 13. It was postponed as many of the business leaders were not available.we are expecting them this time," a state government official said.
In fact, to avoid embarrassment of its earlier business meets in Kolkata and Haldia which were a no-show from the biggies from India Inc, state finance minister and former secretary-general of Ficci Amit Mitra has been asked this time to coordinate the event.
This will be the second such investors meet outside the state to be organised by the Mamata Banerjee government. Earlier in December last year, Banerjee addressed a similar gathering of industrialists. Though industry leaders attended her investment pitch, the state has hardly seen any big-ticket investment.
