Mainpuri, the parliamentary constituency of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the patriarch of the ruling Samajwadi Party and the father of the CM, has bagged the maximum number of proposed bridge projects numbering 12.
While, 27 bridges constructed at an outlay of Rs 268 crore were symbolically unveiled by Yadav at his official residence in Lucknow, the foundation stone of the remaining road and bridge projects were laid by him.

Meanwhile, the proposed projects include 31 bridge projects estimated at Rs 243 crore and 4 highway projects to upgrade roads to 4-lane highways estimated at Rs 620 crore.
The bridge projects have been proposed in Pratapgarh, Mau, Muzaffarnagar, Etawah, Gonda, Auraiya, Jaunpur, Mainpuri, Ghazipur, Sonebhadra, Hapur, Bulandshahr and Lucknow. Similarly, road projects have been proposed in Etawah, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad, Amroha and Agra districts.
In its pre-election manifesto, the ruling Samajwadi Party had promised to link district headquarters with 4-lane highways.
Reiterating his government’s commitment towards improving infrastructure facilities, Yadav said roads and bridges boost economic development as could be seen in the context of developed countries.
State PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav said the government had decided to widen all the state highways to at least 7 metres. A 640-km road between Lakhimpur Kheri and Maharajganj along the Indo-Nepal border would also be developed.
