To further implement fiscal discipline in the state through the second leg of its programme – 'Assam Governance and Public Resource Management Sector Development Programme (AGPRMSDP), the Assam government has concluded loan negotiations to the tune of $100 million with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the centre.
AGPRMSDP is part of a comprehensive agenda for fiscal reforms undertaken by the Assam government for achieving fiscal balance and stabilisation.
The programme emphasises on containing revenue expenditure while improving receipts and undertaking reforms of public sector undertakings.
The sub-programme I of AGPRMSDP was successfully implemented from 2004 to 2007 and the sub-programme II took off this year and would focus on consolidation of achievements under sub-programme I with emphasis on pension reforms and PSU reforms, official sources informed.
