Coal production and despatch at Talcher Coalfields under the command area of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) was totally stopped and the coal supply to NTPC and Nalco 's captive power plant came to a grinding halt today due to the 12-hour bandh called by the non-Congress political parties including the ruling BJD.
However, both Nalco and NTPC plants continued their operations with normal attendance, according to the authorities of these public sector units. The Angul district witnessed a complete bandh as normal life was paralyzed. Complete and peaceful bandhs were observed at Talcher, Pallahara and Athmallick, said Satyabrata Bhoi, the Angul superintendent of police.
