A Delhi court has directed former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal to execute bonds equivalent to the value of cash and property seized from his house by CBI while making searches in connection with the Rs 3.5 crore JMM MPs bribery case, before the same were restorted to him.

The special judge, Ajit Bharihoke, also rejected the application of Lals son Kuldeep Bishnoi to get back his carbine, eight cartridges and 16 bottles of foreign liquor, an his son-in-law, Anoop Bishnois plea for return of over 80 bottles for foreign liquor .

and documents pertaining to some money transactions, seized from their residences.

The judge in his order passed on Saturday asked CBI to submit in the court by February six the total value of the property to facilitate execution of bonds by Lal.

Cbi had requested the court that lal should be asked to execute bonds equivalent to the value of cash, fixed deposits and jewellery before the same were restored to him as it is looking into possibilities of his acquiring disproportionate assets by him.

The agency had seized a cash of rs 20.75 lakh, fixed deposits worth about seven lakh and jewellery valued at rs 24 lakh from various residences of former haryana chief minister.

it will not be proper to order unconditional release of the cash, goods and articles seized by cbi, more so because of the fact if the investigation reveal that these form the part of ill gotten money or assets then in the event of proof of those allegation these may be subject to confiscation, bharihoke observed.
