West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee has written to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urging her to withdraw the decision to house proposed Nazrul Academy in Indira Bhavan in Salt Lake.
"The government under no circumstances should go ahead and set up the academy in the building where former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi stayed for a while," state Congress President Pradip Bhattacharya told PTI today.
"We want the government to set up a research institute on Indira Gandhi there and the proposed Nazrul Academy could be set up elsewhere in the city," he said.
A meeting was held in Congress office where AICC general secretary in charge of West Bengal affairs Shakeel Ahmed, state irrigation minister Manas Bhuniya and Bhattacharya were present to discuss the matter.
