As a part of its measure to protect the domestic industry, the customs department of government of India has decided to consider imposing safeguard and anti dumping mechanisms on certain items.
Speaking at a seminar on 'Protection measures for Indian Industries from Customs' Perspective', organised by the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI), JK Batra, member of customs, ministry of finance, Central Board of Excise and Customs stated that several products like pthalic anhydride, linear alkyl benzene, oxo alcohols(acylic alcohols), soda ash dimethoate technical aluminium products and foils and nylon tyre cord fabric(NTCF) were being considered by the revenue department for levying safegaurd and anti-dumping duties.
"Investigations are currently on for these particular products and the time from which duties are to be applicable will soon be decided", informed Batra.
