Manmohan Singh government has deferred its announcement for the much awaited 'stimulus package' by a day.
Top sources in the government said that the package aimed to countering impact of global slowdown on the Indian economy will be announced on Sunday by the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh left Delhi this morning for a one-day tour in various parts of West Bengal.
On Saturday, the government had announced a cut in the petrol and diesel prices as a part of the measures to fight against the economic slowdown. The Reserve Bank of India, however, may announce its decisions separately today.
The Government is expected to announce several fiscal measures such as cut in excise duty on some products, to boost the growth.
A plan for big-time infrastructure funding may also be announced shortly.
