The capital markets division and the directorate of currency come under the department of economic affairs, earlier headed by Arvind Mayaram, who has been shifted to the tourism ministry. Krishnan, then joint secretary in the capital markets division, was shifted to the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council after Pranab Mukherjee became finance minister. He was again brought in as additional secretary in the division after P Chidambaram took charge of the ministry. Anup Chandra Pandey, joint secretary in the labour ministry, has been posted as additional secretary in the defence ministry.
R Rajagopal, managing director of NAFED, has been made additional secretary in the Department of Agricultural Research and Education.
