Govt to consider revision of oil prices
In addition, the government will soon take a decision on increasing prices of petrol and diesel. Petroleum ministry officials today met their counterparts in the Finance Ministry to discuss these proposals.
"Various measures to be taken were discussed and hopefully a decision will be taken soon ... We can't wait for more than a week," S Sundareshan, additional secretary in the oil ministry, said.
Oil Minister Murli Deora also met Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram today to discuss these issues. "We are trying our best to resolve the issue as soon as possible," Deora said after the meeting.
Oil ministry has proposed a hike of Rs 10 in prices of petrol, and Rs 5 for diesel.
