The government is unlikely to oppose Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Natural Resources ( RNRL) when it tomorrow seeks final hearing on the gas supply dispute between the Ambani brothers by Supreme Court on September 1.
"No, we have no objection. Why should we oppose. Even the government would want an early hearing and early resolution of the matter," an official connected with the case said here on the condition of anonymity.
RNRL Chairman Anil Ambani earlier today told reporters that the company would tomorrow approach the apex court seeking final hearing on the matter on September 1.
The company separately served notices in this regard on Reliance Industries (RIL) and the Petroleum Ministry, which Anil had yesterday accused of siding with the Mukesh group firm in the dispute pertaining to pricing and supply of gas by RIL to RNRL.
When contacted, a spokesperson of Mukesh Ambani-promoted RIL declined to comment on the notice, as also the allegations that RIL was deliberately delaying the matter.
Cross-appeals filed by RNRL and RIL, as also the government's petition in this matter are scheduled to come up for consideration on September 1.
