The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has raised its fees for its 2010-12 batch of the post graduate programme (PGP) by Rs 1.2 lakh, a jump of 9.6 per cent as compared to 2009-11.
The fee for the 2009-11 batch was Rs 12.5 lakh. It has been revised to Rs 13.7 lakh for the incoming batch. Students will pay Rs 6.6 lakh for the first year and the balance in the second year.
“The fee for the PGP batch 2010-12 has been revised to Rs 13.7 lakh. It includes all costs other than food. The fee has been arrived at after taking into account the significant increase in costs due to implementation of Sixth Pay Commission recommendations, as well as general rise in operating costs due to high inflation in the economy. The fee is about 9.6 per cent higher than the 2009-11 batch,” a press release from the institute stated.
As for the fee waiver scheme, “IIM-A would continue to provide waiver to students based on family income. In the financial year 2009-10, 41 students were educated at IIM-A absolutely free,” the release added.
The 2008-10 batch was required to pay Rs 11.5 lakh. Last year, the institute had raised its fees for the 2009-11 batch by Rs 50,000, applicable from second year.
