Kerala plans to replicate e-district model across state

The e-district project of Kerala State IT Mission would be replicated in all the districts, according to IT and industries minister PK Kunhalikutty.

Inaugurating the valedictory function of Akshaya Day in Thiruvananthapuram, he said the government would extend all support to strengthen Akshaya IT initiatives in the state and inspire people to take up self-employment. Kerala is the first state in the country to launch the citizen services centres (Akshaya centres) for e-governance across the state.

“Akshaya is the project of the future where we are envisaging a paperless office and other services at the click of the mouse. Today, other states and various countries are consulting us to replicate this model,” he added. He also released the Akshaya souvenir.

Korath Mathew, director, said Akshaya had signed an MoU with the Department of Information Technology, Lakshadweep, to set up e-kendras and citizen services network in Lakshadweep. The Karnataka government had also expressed interest to study the Akshaya model and had entrusted Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, to start a collaborative programme. The state would be soon provide more citizen services through the Akshaya network.

On the occasion, the best Akshaya entrepreneurs were given awards for their e-governance services. The teams from Wayanad and Pathanamthitta bagged the awards for the best districts, which logged in the highest number of enrollment per team in Aadhar registration. The best in e-ticketing service was awarded to S Sajikumar of Thiruavananthapuram. The e-pay services award was given to Abdul Salam from Malappuram, online ration card registration to Rajesh from Kasargod and e-Grantz service award to Archana of Thiruvananthapuram. The best e-learning initiatives award for Intel learn was bagged by Jimmi Joseph from Wayanad and the Ignou award went to Fazeela from Kasargod.
