Explore Business Standard

Hospitality major Leela Group is all set to expand The Leela Palace, its prime property in Bangalore.
The Leela will add about 150 rooms, taking the total to 450. With nearly 80 per cent occupancy rate, the average room revenue (ARR) in Bangalore is about Rs 8,000. The Leela will also open an Asian restaurant, a night club and a bowling ally in its premises.
The hotel is already offering a wide variety of shopping experience at its existing Leela Galeria. In the 9-acre property where The Leela Palace is currently located, nearly six floors of 20,000 sqft each have been rented to various firms. Based on the demand, the Leela group would acquire the space and convert them into rooms.
Clearly, it is the beeline of business travellers and conferences that have led Leela to expand its operations in Bangalore. Taking cue from a host of conferences and seminars that companies host at the Leela Palace, the group is also planing to open more facilities for such events.
