Manipal Group to launch K-12 education initiative

Manipal Education & Medical Group (MEMG) and Tutorvista.com are coming together to set up Manipal K-12 Education India Pvt Ltd, which will manage andôor provide technology support to schools in the new school education venture. MEMG is a strategic investor in Tutorvista.com.

The venture will seek to provide end-to-end management of schools, right from Kindergarten to Class 12. The Manipal K-12 Education will include providing end-to-end management services to existing and new schools under the brand name Manipal Schools, and ICT-based school learning solutions and tutorials.

“We will help entrepreneurs who want to start schools or schools that want to introduce technology in imparting education through the partnership,” said Dr Ranjan Pai, CEO, MEMG.

Next academic year five schools across the country could be run by the venture. Over the next five years it aims to have 100 schools under management. The programme is not only for private schools, but also for government schools.

There is a proposal to have public-private partnership model running schools and this would be an opportunity for the venture to offer its services. The venture expects to be of Rs 40 crore over the next 2 years. Till date the venture has seen investment to the tune of Rs 20 crore.
