Asia’s largest solar farm in Banaskantha district of Gujarat, set up by India’s largest solar developer Moser Baer Clean Energy Limited (MBCEL), was inaugurated on Friday by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. The 30 Mw solar farm has been set up with an investment of Rs 465 crore and is generating approximately 1,50,000 units per day. "With the commissioning of this solar farm, Gunthawada has secured a place on world's solar energy map, as now it has the largest solar farm in Asia.
Banaskantha is also on the path of progress thanks to its potential for solar energy,” said Narendra Modi speaking on the occasion. “We shall have 100 Mw operational capacity by end of October and plan to install more than 5Gw by 2020, ” said Ratul Puri, chairman of Moser Baer Projects (MBPPL), the parent company of MBCEL.
