No possibility of contesting LS polls : Digvijay

Congress General Secretary, Digvijay Singh said today that there was no possibility of his contesting the Lok Sabha elections starting next month.

"All speculation in the media about my contesting the elections is both baseless and meaningless," Singh told PTI from New Delhi.

Singh said that he was not contesting the polls in accordance with the announcement made by him before the December 2003 state Assembly polls that he would not hold any post for 10 years if the Congress lost them.

Singh, who did not contest the last Assembly elections held in November 2008, said that there was no pressure on him to contest the Lok Sabha elections.

Singh said that the media continues to indulge in speculation about his taking part in the polls even though time and again he maintained that he will not contest the elections.
