No Question Hour in Parliament for tenth straight day

Question Hour stood derailed in Parliament for the tenth day today as Opposition and Treasury benches vociferously raised matters of corruption leading to adjournment both Houses till noon.

Amid pandemonium, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for an hour barely a minute after they met for the day.

Samajwadi Party members began their march to the Lok Sabha from the gates of Parliament with party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in the lead.

They entered the House raising slogans 'Kendra sarkar hosh mein aao, JPC banao'. Once inside the House, members of various parties were seen distributing placards with slogans and photocopies of newspaper reports on various scams.

As soon as Speaker Meira Kumar assumed her seat, Opposition members led by the AIADMK, rushed to the well and were soon joined by those from BJP, Shiv Sena and some other parties.

The Congress members too waved placards and added equally to the pandemonium by raising slogans against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

'Corruption, anarchy, mining mafia wins in Karnataka', and 'Corrupt CM wins, Karnataka loses' read some of the placards.

As the din continued, Kumar adjourned the House till noon.

In the Rajya Sabha, Opposition persisted with its demand for a JPC to go into irregularities in allocation of 2G spectrum and rushed into the well even before Chairman Hamid Ansari could take his seat.

The ruling benches protested BJP's decision to let Yeddyrurappa continue as Karnataka Chief Minister despite allegations of wrong doing in land allotments in the state.

While BJP and AIADMK members shouted "We Want JPC", the ruling members head placards reading "BJP - Master of Hypocrisy. Why Double Standard on Yedduyurappa."

Ansari took up the first listed question and asked members to go back to their places.

With members not heeding to his pleas, he adjourned the House till noon in less than minute after it met.

The Question Hour was taken up in the Lok Sabha only on November 9, the first day of the Winter Session, while the Rajya Sabha had adjourned for the day as a mark of respect to a sitting member who died during inter-session period.

Since November 10, Parliament has not transacted any significant business and both the Houses have been witnessing adjournments barely minutes after meeting.
