Paswan demands ban on VHP, Bajrang Dal

The Lok Janshakti Party leader and the Union Minister for Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers Ram Vilas Paswan today demanded ban on the Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal in view of the recent violence created by these groups in Orissa and Karnataka.

He also demanded that a national screening committee be constituted by the government to look into the activities of the various educational institutions run by Rastriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS), the missionary schools and the Madrasas.

This committee will look into the activities of these organisations will identify those organisations working in the national interest and those working against it.

Action need to be taken against those organisations found involved in the activities detrimental to the interest of the nation.

There need to be a uniform syllabus for all the schools in the country to avoid misrepresentation of the facts. He also demanded that no one should be allowed to display weapons like gun and trishul in public.

Demanding that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should be asked to enquire the recent violent incident in Kandhamal he said,a sitting judge should also enquire into the violent incidents in Karnataka.

Arguing that the Dalit -Adivasi conflict is not the issue for the recent happenings in Kandhamal as is projected in some quarters, the union minister said, RSS and its other frontal organisations had a major role in the recent violent incident.

Praising the former chief minister Biju Patnaik, Paswan said, if he would have been there, Patnaik would have banned VHP and the Bajrang Dal.

Pawsan alleged that more people are outside the relief camps in Kandhamal than are being accommodated at present. Some people have given him a memorandum that they are opting for Christianity as they are treated and dalits and not allowed to places of worship.

He demanded that Rs 10 lakhs should be paid to each of families of the dead and Rs 5 lakh to the enjured. Besides, one member of the deceased family should be provided with employment. On this occasion, the former member of Parliament, Bhajaman Behera and Shanti Das were inducted to the Lok Janshakti Party and made general secretaries.
