Prove Charges Or Quit, Bjp Tells Mulayam

The BJP yesterday dared defence minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to prove his allegations that foreign power and foreign funds played a role in installing the BJP-BSP governemnt in Uttar Pradesh.

If Yadav failed to prove the allegations, he should resign from the post of defence minister as such an irresponsible person should not be allowed to continue as the countrys defence minister even for a day, BJP spokesperson Yashwant Sinha said.

As Yadav has access to the countrys top secrets, such a statement from him was a serious issue, Sinha said even as he described the allegations as baseless. Sinha expressed deep grief on the recent massacre in Bihar and reiterated the partys demand for imposition of Presidents rule on the state.

Despite the recent clean chit given to Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav by Prime Miniaster HD Deve Gowda, there was no sign of law and order in the state, he said.

As long as the United Front governemnt remains at the Centre, the people of Bihar are condemned to suffer under Laloos regime, Sinha held.
