Samajwadi Party To Protest Against Tada
The Samajwadi Party has threatened to launch a mass movement if the government committee looking into the merits of the TADA cases did not dispose off the cases within a month.
SP spokesman Amar Singh told newsmen yesterday that his party wanted general amnesty to be granted to all TADA detenues on the 50th year of the countrys independence.
He said those booked under TADA were subjected to considerable harassment, and added it was high time the government took quick action to clear the cases.

The movement would be launched first in Maharashtra and would be later taken up in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, Singh said.
Giving details of alleged persecution the SP workers in Uttar Pradesh under Mayawatis rule, he said a recent procession of party workers was brutally lathicharged in which former state minister Sharadanand Anchal sustained injuries.
He alleged that criminals supported by the BSP-BJP had created a situation in eastern areas of Uttar Pradesh which was worse than the situation in Mumbai.
