Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal is scheduled to hold an open house discussion with industry players next month to address issues plaguing the industry.

"We have received a note from DoT which says that open house discussion by Minister (Sibal) will be held on September 4," a senior executive of telecom company told PTI.

A Telecom Ministry official also confirmed the meeting schedule.

The meeting was earlier scheduled for August 13 but it was cancelled following busy schedule of the Minister in the ongoing Parliament session.

Though there was no fixed agenda in the communique sent to industry but official sources have earlier said that Sibal is likely to take up issues affecting industry players that need to addressed for smooth functioning of the industry and reducing the instances of litigation.

The telecom minister had held a open house discussion with telecom industry players before finalising draft National Telecom Policy 2012.

Earlier this month, the Minister talked about interacting with the industry to sort out regulatory issues that they are facing specially with respect to imposition of penalties.

The Minister has had on different occasions talked about sorting out legal disputes between the government and the industry through mutual discussion as court cases tend to lengthy and deplete precious resources.
