UP to build 2 airstrips at Rs 31 crore

| The air strip in Moradabad will be constructed near a small town called Moodhapandey on little over 52 hectares of land, at Rs 21 crore. The one in Chitrakoot in the Bundelkhand region will cost Rs 10 crore. The contract for this was earlier was given to RITES but it has now been cancelled. |
| The official sources said the contract has been cancelled as the RITES failed to began the work even after seven months of the award of the contract. The construction agency for both the air strips will be UP State Construction Corporation. |
| The cabinet also decided to constitute a committee of senior bureaucrats to supervise the purchase of a new helicopter at the cost of Rs 35 crore. The committee will include principal secretaries of the civil aviation and finance department besides senior officials of the civil aviation department. |
| In a major tax relief to the poultry industry the cabinet also approved a proposal for giving the agriculture status to the poultry. Earlier it was covered by the Industrial development Act, thus deprived of tax concessions. |
| In another relief to the food processing industry, the units investing a minimum of Rs 50 crore have been allowed interest free loan by the state government equivalent to the total trade tax contributed by them in the state exchequer. |
| Earlier this facility was admissible to the industrial units with minimum investment of Rs 100 crore in sector other then the food industry. |
| The cabinet also decided to extend the facility of 15% capital subsidy to the milk processing units including the milk collection centers in the state. |
| However this facility will not be available in NOIDA and Greater NOIDA. Only the new units commencing production within three years of the enforcement of this policy will be able to avail this benefit. |
| The cabinet also decided to extend the `Purchase Preference Policy' by another three years where the government departments, undertakings and other government aided bodies have been directed to source all their needs from the state PSUs like the UP Khadi board. |
| In next two months the state government will distribute as many as 2.5 crore sarees to 1.27 crore women. The government has already made a provision of Rs 250 cr in the budget through the second supplementary budget passed by the assembly on August 24 last. |
| All women 18 years of age and above, both married and widow having the Antyodya and BPL card of the PDS shall be eligible for the free saree. The Women welfare department will supervise the whole process of saree distribution while the Food department has been entrusted with the responsibility of the identification of the beneficiaries. |
| The sarees will be distributed in special functions to be organized at the development block; sub division (Tehsil) and district headquarter level. In a major decision for the reforms in revenue administration, the cabinet approved the draft ``UP Revenue code bill''. |
| The bill is likely to be introduced during the ongoing monsoon session of the assembly, has been formulated after repealing 39 Acts, many of which were Legislated by the British colonial masters. The new law aims to check the litigation in rural areas over the ownership of the agriculture land |
