Ticket aspirants hit campaign road

Ticket aspirants belonging to various political parties in the Telangana region have started their election campaign in the constituencies even before the finalisation of the potential pre-poll tie-ups in the ensuing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Telangana is going to polls on April 30 for which the Election Commission issued the notification on Wednesday. The last for for filing the nominations is April 9.

“I am currently touring the villages in my constituency. I am not bothered about the alliances,” said Ponnam Prabhaker, a sitting Congress MP from Karimnagar over phone.

 Though the Congress is understood to have promised  re-nomination for all the sitting MPs, those aspiring for the party ticket for the Assembly elections seem to be in no mood to waste their time. “I am in the field. I have no clue on the party’s possible tie-up with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS),” Sammi Reddy, a first time aspirant for the Huzurabad Assembly constituency from the Congress, said over phone.  Incidentally, TRS Assembly floor leader Etela Rajender is expected to contest from this constituency this time as well.
