The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would formulate a comprehensive action plan to deal with the Naxal menace in the country.

“The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government did not prepare a comprehensive action plan to deal with the Naxal problem,” BJP President Rajnath Singh said in Jagdalpur Wednesday afternoon. Instead, the UPA government put the ball on state’s court to combat the red army though the problem was not confined to a single state, he added.

Singh said if the NDA (led by the BJP) was voted to power, it would draft a comprehensive action plan to tackle the left wing extremism in the country. “The action plan would help in finding solution to the Naxal problem,” he said, adding that the plan would suggest the possible remedies.

The statement add importance as the Naxal-infested states had been demanding a comprehensive action plan to tackle the red menace as it was not confined to a single state. In all, 14 states had been infested with the left wing extremism that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh viewed as the biggest internal threat of the country.

The BJP had been officially demanding such action plan as it would help designing common strategy to combat the Naxalism. The insurgency-hit states have separate policy to deal with the menace that had been helping the red guerrillas to move from one state to other for safe haven.
