BJP will bring development in West Bengal: Rajnath Singh

He further alleged that the TMC failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the state

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday alleged that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people of West Bengal and urged the electorate to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for better facilities and development in the state.

"The people of the state have completely thrown away the 35-year old Communist Party. The Trinamool Congress promised of change and to bring an end to poverty in the state, but the situation is still the same. Many states are not getting the facilities which they should get. I appeal to all of you to help form the BJP government in West Bengal," Singh said while addressing a rally here.

He asked the people whether they have got proper roads for transport, water for agriculture, hospital for treatment, proper education and electricity during the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC regime in the state.

"Does the Trinamool Congress, which has not fulfilled any of its promises, have any right to be in power? I appeal to the people not to allow either the government of the Communists nor of the Trinamool Congress in the state," he added.

The polling for the first phase of West Bengal assembly elections took place on April 4.

The poll percentage for the first phase of the assembly election was 80.92%.

The second part of the first phase of polling will take place on April 11.

While Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress is battling the joint salvo of the unofficial Left-Congress alliance, the BJP too is looking to make a dent in the region.

Polling for the second phase will be held on April 17, the third phase on April 21, fourth on April 25 and the fifth and six phases on April 30 and May 5 respectively.

The counting of votes will take place on May 19.
