The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has promoted 10 of its general managers as chief general managers (CGMs). The promotion process, which is usually based on interviews and performance, has one added feature this time around as the CGMs were asked to grade the GMs who were considered for promotions. This is the first time that the central bank had undertaken such an exercise where seniors were asked to grade their juniors.
Those who have been promoted as CGMs are Rajeswara Rao, Madhumita Sarkar Deb, Supriya Pattanaik, Ravi Mohan, Madaswamy, Ganesh Kumar, A R Khan, S K Bhargava, R C Das and G C Shetty.
Though departments were not yet allocated, sources said some of the newly promoted CGMs might be appointed in the department of financial stability unit (FSU) which was recently carved out of the monetary policy department.
Anand Sinha, executive director of RBI who was in the department of banking operations and development, was shifted to FSU, which falls under the purview of RBI Deputy Governor Shyamala Gopinath.
