| The spot rupee opened and closed at 43. 53 after reaching the day's low of 43.55 to a dollar. Importers rush for dollars saw the six-month and one-year forward premiums closing at 1.30 per cent and 1.20 per cent respectively. |

| Sentiment: Volatile Profit booking by bond dealers pulled down gilt prices across the board. Prices of long-term papers fell by almost Re 1, whereas medium and short-tenure prices moved down by 15-40 paise. The 10-year 7.38 per cent 2015 gilt closed at 6.82 per cent against 6.79/80 on Wednesday. Call rates ruled at 5.05/10 per cent. Reverse repo bids came down to Rs 12,170 crore following reporting Friday and cautiousness towards advance tax ouflows next week. |
