Scope International Pvt Ltd, the shared services arm of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), has set up a global network centre of excellence (CoE) to arrest and reduce service impact on SCB customers.

According to a company statement, the centre, which will be acting as the single point monitoring hub for the group's network system, has been set up to enable SCB to proactively fix network malfunction even before the customer is able to sense any fault in the service experience with the bank.

SCB uses the services of third party service providers to maintain its network across 56 countries where it has its operations.

On regular monitoring of high severity snag, it has been found that a major percentage of the problem was related to network outages. The network centre of excellence is expected to ensure that any malfunction is instantly detected and immediate action is initiated to rectify the same.

The centre will function with an initial team of 14 people, which is expected to grow further to enable network design, network capacity planning and firewall support, among others.

Scope services all the 56 countries of SCB and processes over 80 million transactions a year. It employs close to 4,000 people.
