China to close Sino-Pak border for 10 days

Move part of security measure ahead of Independence Day celebrations

China has decided to close the Sino-Pak border for 10 days, as part of security measures ahead of its Independence Day celebrations.

A notification from the Chinese government said the Khunjerab Pass would remain closed from September 28 to October 7.

According to the Daily Times, trade and traffic between the two countries will also remain closed during this period.

Police said the Chinese government has been expressing concerns about threats of terrorist infiltration through the Khunjerab Pass, the report added.
