In addition, companies also find it difficult to grade the products from different universities, leaving them with no means for a standardised comparison.
As per a Nasscom estimate, in ITeS, the applicant to job offer ratio is approximately 5 per cent. As the ITeS sector will need to recruit 5 million people over the next five years, 100 million applicants will need to be considered. Conservatively, corporate India will need to spend five million hours just to screen resumes and 20 million hours for evaluations.
In this scenario, "Many companies have begun to outsource their recruitment needs like identification, sorting of talent and even the recruitment process logistics," said Aseem Marwaha, managing director, eLitmus.
eLitmus, a start-up recruitment solution provider promoted by the partners of Browse Consulting,, which commenced operations from Monday, has developed a process, pH Test, to be administered nationwide.
Through this the company enables candidate and companies to find each other through a technology platform in a far less time consuming manner.
eLitmus, through the pH Test, will once a month evaluate across the country basic skills required to succeed in any profession. It will not test the knowledge in a specific subject but devise a score based on logic and deduction skills, language skills and ability to compute, said Aseem Marwaha.
"Each candidate, who could be a final year student or a graduate with no more than two years' work experience can apply for the test. His score will be available on the eLitmus site for companies and candidates to refer to and use," he added.
eLitmus, through Browse Consulting, has helped companies reduce cycle time to hire by as much as 50 per cent and logistics effort by as much as 95 per cent.
It already has over 50 participating corporates who constitute some of the top recruiters in the IT, BPO and life sciences. These include Dell Computers, GE, Caritor, eFunds, Ness Technologies, Virtusa, Chembiotek and Avendus.
