Asian markets buoyant, Hang Seng surges 4%

The Asian markets today ended with smart gains on hopes of recovery in the global economy and improving financial system.

The Hang Seng surged 727 points (4%) to 18,786.

The Nikkei zoomed 205 points (2%) to 9,991.

The Shanghai Composite was up 28 points at 2,816.

The Straits Times advanced 44 points (2%) to  2,394 and the Seoul Composite increased 43 points (3%) to 1,415.

The Taiwan Weighted Index was up 48 points at 6,462.

The Hang Seng has surged 398 points (2%) to 15,526. The Nikkei has gained 198 points (2%) at 9,984.

The Shanghai Composite has added 29 points (1%) to 2,817.

The Seoul Composite has gained 40 points (3%) at 1,413.

The Taiwan Weighted Index and the Straits Times are up marginaly at 6,451 and 2,373, respectively.

Asian markets have today opened on a positive note.

Commodity-related shares boosted the Asian stocks on Wednesday thus snapping a two-day decline.

The Hang Seng has soared 299 points to 18,358. The Nikkei has added 98 points to 9,885.

The Shanghai Composite is up 16 points at 2,804.

The Seoul Composite has gained 23 points (1.7%) at 1,395.

The Taiwan Weighted Index has advanced 38 points to 6,452 and the Straits Times is up nine points at 2,359.
