Asian markets end in red; Hang Seng down 195pts

Asian stocks were down for the second day in a row on Tuesday on fears of overheating. However, oil continued to rise this week, on expectations of a depletion in US crude inventories.

The Hang Seng had shed 195 points (1%) at 18,058.

The Nikkei dropped 79 points to 9,787.

The Shanghai Composite has added 19 points at 2,788.

The Taiwan Weighted Index slipped 214 points to 6,414 and the Seoul Composite was down 21 points at 1,372.

The Straits Times on the other hand was up 15 points at 2,348.

Asian markets are down this morning.

The Hang Seng has slipped 157 points to 18,095. The Nikkei is down 17 points at 9,849.

The Taiwan Weighted index has plunged 182 points to 6,446. The Straits Times index is down four points at 2,330, and the Seoul Composite index is down a point at 1,392.

The Shanghai Composite index has declined 24 points to 2,744.
