Barley futures for July hardened by Rs 31.50, or 2.03% to Rs 1,560 per quintal in 30 lots.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the April contract also moved up by Rs 3.50, or 0.23% to Rs 1,504.50 per quintal in 5,470 lots.

Increased buying by traders, guided by firm spot markets sentiment supported the trade.

Strong demand from breweries and cattle-feed making industries amid restricted
supply helped the futures trade.
