Stock price updates on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) were affected during the first hour of trading on Wednesday due to technical glitches in the system.
Brokers said that the leased line of the exchange through which the data is carried from the broker to the exchange experienced a slowdown causing interruptions in the regular updates of stock prices.
The technical glitch caused the entire system to slowdown for about 15-20 minutes post the open auction, according to two brokers that Business Standard spoke to.
The exchange clarified that immediate action was taken and that the problem did not last long.
"There was a slowdown in the updation of prices of some stocks. But as soon as we found out about the problem, it was rectified. The rest of the trading session went off smoothly," said an NSE spokesperson.
