 "JM tops 2016 M&A league table")
The $12.9-billion sale of Essar Oil stake by the Ruias to Russian oil giant Rosneft has propelled transaction advisors JM Financial and VTB Bank of Russia to top the M&A league tables for the calendar year 2016. UBS came third, as it advised in the Reliance Communications telecom towers sale transaction.
The biggest trend was the sale of assets by Indian companies to repay banks. 2016 witnessed around 1,400 transactions valued at $45.8 billion, over 10 per cent growth till November last year.
