Arrivals of chilli crop increased to 0.8-0.9 lakh bags while demand for new crop remained firm local & export buyers at auctions held at Guntur market. Spot rates were eased slightly, but were quoted at '60-'65 per kg, based on crop quality.

Arrivals of jeera crop increased to about 50,000 bags while trades too were up at ~35,000 tons at auctions held at Unjha market, as per traders.

Spot rates of pepper garbled declined to '362 per kg and that of un-garbled was down at '347 per kg. Arrivals were increased to 30 tons while trades too were up at 32 tons at auctions held at Kochi market, as per IPSTA.

Global pepper output for 2012 is estimated around 335,000 tons (270,000 tons of black and 65,000 tons of white pepper), an increase of 6% from 315,000 tons (246,000 tons of black and 69,000 tons of white pepper) in 2011, as per
International Pepper Community (IPC).

Global pepper production in 2013 is expected to decline by 10,000-15,000 tons from 2012 levels.

Since, stock brought forward from 2012 is limited, production of pepper in 2013 will only be adequate to meet the slightly increased demand; hence the price is likely to remain firm during the year 2013 - IPC.

Arrivals of turmeric crop stood steady ~12,000-12,500 bags at Nizamabad market, but increased to about 10,000 bags across mandis of Erode.

Spot rates were down quoted at '56-'60 per kg across different trading centers, as per local traders.

Average price of small cardamom declined to '615.7 per kg while maximum price offered was down at '797 per kg, as per spice board. Total inflow of small cardamom crop declined to 25.5 tons from which ~24.6 tons were sold at CPA
auction held at Santhanpara.

Arrivals of Soya bean crop declined to below 50,000 bags across MP market & down ~2,000 bags at mandis of Indore while supply at mandis of Maharashtra declined to about 25,000 bags & at mandis of Rajasthan ~15,000 bags.

Spot rates of soya bean crop offered by planters were up at '36.5-'37 per kg while rates across mandis of Indore were up at '35-'36 per kg, as per local traders.

Inflow of mustard seed crop increased to 257,513 quintals, while average of closing spot rates were up at '3,086.7 per quintal, as per agriculture marketing board of Rajasthan.

Arrivals of chana crop remains firm across major trading centers; however demand has slowed ahead of Holi festival & is expected to pick up from April onwards. Spot rates were down & quoted at '34-'34.5 per kg.
