Select base metals firms up on sustained demand

Select base metals firmed up further at the non-ferrous metal market here today on sustained demand from stockists and traders, amid higher industrial offtake despite bearish trend in LME.

Meanwhile, select copper and brass sheet cutting moved down slightly owing to lower demand from consumer industries.

Nickel prices spurted by Rs 15 per kg to Rs 1,410 from Monday's closing level of Rs 1,395 and tin prices rose by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 1,670 as against Rs 1,660 previously. 

Copper utensils scrap, copper sheet cuttings and aluminium utensils scrap moved up by Rs 3 per kg each to Rs 427, Rs 449 and Rs 106. 

Copper armature and brass utensils scrap also inched up by a rupee per kg each to Rs 457 and Rs 311.

However, copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy, copper wire bar and brass sheet cutting all softened by a rupee per kg each to Rs 476, Rs 466, Rs 504 and Rs 320 respectively.
