While the Sensex was up 2.44 per cent, the move in the broader market was not as spectacular. The rise in the BSE mid-cap and BSE small-cap indices was slightly lower at 1.22 per cent and 1.18 per cent, respectively. The rally today was led primarily by large cap stocks including ICICI Bank, Ranbaxy, Reliance, TCS and ITC.
ICICI Bank gained 6.41 per cent to close at Rs 607.15, Ranbaxy 6.23 per cent at Rs 414.20, Reliance 3.38 per cent at Rs 720.14, TCS 2.97 per cent at Rs 1679.60 and ITC 2.75 per cent at Rs 156.75.
