Sensex extends losses; Jaiprakash sheds 5%

The Sensex has extended losses and is now down 141 points at 9,477.

Jaiprakash Associates has slumped 4.7% to Rs 73.

Infosys and Ranbaxy have plunged 3.5% each to Rs 1,257 and Rs 214, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel have dropped over 3% each to Rs 422 and Rs 654, respectively.

Maruti has slipped 2.8% to Rs 615. ONGC and Sterlite have declined over 2.5% each to Rs 688 and Rs 267, respectively.

Tata Steel, BHEL and Reliance are down around 2% each to Rs 186, Rs 1,419 and Rs 1,357, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra has surged nearly 5% to Rs 294. DLF has gained 3% at Rs 155.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,387 stocks traded so far, 1,282 have advanced, 994 have declined and 111 are unchanged.
