Sensex pares gains, up 57pts; Sterlite up 4%

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 57 points at 15,130.

The NSE Nifty is up 10 points at 4,528.

Sterlite and Tata Motors have surged around 4% each to Rs 612 and Rs 443, respectively.

HDFC, Maruti and Mahindra & Mahindra have rallied nearly 3% each to Rs 2,466, Rs 672 and Rs 578, respectively.

HDFC Bank has gained 2.7% at Rs 1,250. Satyam and Tata Steel have moved up nearly 2% each to Rs 415 and Rs 657, respectively.

NTPC and Reliance Infrastructure are up around 1.5% each at Rs 183 and Rs 1,027, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has slipped over 3% to Rs 843. BHEL, Tata Power and ACC have declined 1.4% each to Rs 1,801, Rs 1,046 and Rs 629, respectively.

Out of 2,434 stocks traded so far, 1,427 have advanced, 930 have declined and 77 are unchanged.
