Sensex up 87pts in early trades; ICICI Bank advances 3%

The Sensex opened 73 points higher at 8,768. The index moved up to a high fo 8,828, and is now up 87 points at 8,782.

Sterlite has surged 3.3% to Rs 212. ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have rallied around 3% each to Rs 330 and Rs 859, respectively.

HDFC, Jaiprakash Associates, BHEL and Bharti Airtel have advanced over 2% each to Rs 1,381, Rs 56, Rs 1,310 and Rs 639, respectively.

ACC, Wipro and Larsen & Toubro have gained around 1.5% each at Rs 403, Rs 232 and Rs 746, respectively.

ITC, NTPC, Reliance and Reliance Infrastructure are up around 1% each at Rs 170, Rs 155, Rs 1,083 and Rs 502, respectively.

Ranbaxy has plunged 3.6% to Rs 196. Infosys has shed 2.3% at Rs 1,153, and SBI has slipped 1.5% to Rs 1,056.
