Silver futures up Rs 127 on fresh buying

Silver prices rose by Rs 127 to Rs 27,778 per kg in the futures market today on fresh buying by traders influenced by a firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for September delivery rose by Rs 127 or 0.46 per cent to Rs 27,778 per kg with an open interest of 964 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July moved up by Rs 114, or 0.42 per cent to Rs 27,578 per kg in 14,049 lots.

Market analysts said, fresh buying by traders in tandem with a firming global trend pushed up silver prices at future market here.
 
Meanwhile, silver edged up by 0.97 per cent to $17.67 an ounce in New York last night.
