Zinc up 0.5% on firm spot demand, global cues

Metal for delivery in June traded higher by 0.4%

Zinc futures edged up by 0.51% to Rs 127.40 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions amid a firm global trend and better domestic demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July rose 55 paise, or 0.51%, to Rs 127.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 11 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in June traded higher by 50 paise, or 0.44%, to Rs 126.70 per kg in a turnover of 241 lots.

Traders said besides improved spot demand, a firming trend in base metals overseas, led to the rise in zinc prices at futures trade here.
